I came to AppState because my friend suggested I apply here with her. We both got accepted and I am still enrolled. I visited the campus with my friend and I thought it was beautiful and at least a decent fit for me.
I applied to AppState as a computer science major, but realized two calculus classes are required to graduate with that major. I decided to switch to journalism since my writing skills are much better than my math skills.
Brandon Kathman and I decided that we would like for our beat to revolve around local Appalachian communities and the food that brings them together. This includes gatherings such as reunions, barbecues, potlucks, meetings at local restaurants and anything else that makes the community members come together.
We could gather information about these communities by interviewing members as well as looking for any historical documentation and previous articles that may have been written about these communities.
